R1-5b, or the Stop Here for Pedestrians sign, is a sign that is not commonly seen, but you are still able to see it.

Use[edit | edit source]

It means to stop for pedestrians, on crosswalks that are marked. Much simpler than its counterparts.

History[edit | edit source]

Before the sign[edit | edit source]

In 2003, the Yield Here for Pedestrian signs were added to the 2003 MUTCD. These would be the end of the "R1" series until 2009.

Debut[edit | edit source]

In 2009, this sign along with its counterpart were added to the 2009 MUTCD. Since then, this sign has lived up to its purpose.
